The First Adventure - Big4 Tweed

We were ultra keen to get out in the Expanda at the first available opportunity. So even though two of the family were a little under the weather, and the weather itself was forecast to be a shocker - we weren't going to be stopped! We left Ipswich around 10am with the rain bucketing down and for the rest of the day it fluctuated between light drizzle to heavy downpour.

Bucketing down on the way out of Brissie

We booked a site at the Tweed Heads Billabong, which is a Big 4 park. The park itself is great with two pools, playgrounds, jumping pillow, clean facilites and a billabong if you want to paddle a canoe around. Unfortunately what the brochure won't tell you is on one side you've got a major highway and on the other the Gold Coast airport. Needless to say it's not the place to go if tranquility's your thing. Regardless it was a good destination for our first outing in the van.

These things were way too frequent intruders

Thankfully we had a pause in proceedings long enough to set up in the dry. We also got a reprieve long enough to have look around the park and utilise some of the facilities.

Did a full lap on foot
Set up was soooo much quicker than the trailer :)
It started to rain around dinner time and continued to do so for the rest of the night! (Dinner was fresh fish and chips courtesy of Scales Seafood).

Morning pack up was relatively quick (compared to our trailer), taking about 1.5hrs from go to whoa even with a cereal breakfast squeezed in. Thankfully the rain was clearing as we started to pack so there was no problem in making our check-out time of 9am (NSW time).

Posing for a happy families shot
