Drifters Holiday Village - Kingscliffe

We were heading to Kingscliffe for the sister in-law's wedding so decided to make a weekend of it. The destination for our camp was Drifters Holiday Village.

Entrance to the CP

Day One: We arrived Friday mid morning and set up camp in an ensuite site. First impressions of the place were great. One of the groundsman guided us into the site so that helped save a reversing argument.

Camp all set up

We were the only van in our section which was positioned near fully contained cabins

After lunch we settled in for some R&R while the kids played in the playground, which was right across from our site. We'd hoped to get a swim in so it was disappointing to see the pool had been emptied for repairs.

By mid afternoon it was time for the missus to head out for a night of wedding party duties. The kids and I decided to hit the beach, before picking up some of the best fish and chips I've had in years!

Beautiful Kingscliffe Beach

Day Two: It got pretty bloody cold last night, so the vans heater ran all evening. It's not the most effective heater in the world, but it at least took the edge off.

The missus went back to Peppers to prepare for the afternoon wedding whilst the kids and I had a lazy morning before hitting the park down by the beach.

After lunch it was time to prep for the wedding and head off for a night on the drink.

Day Three: It was a seedy and late start to the morning. We met some others down the beach for lunch and a few friendly games of beach touch footy. We retired back to the park for a lazy arvo.

Excellent stop for coffee and a feed

We're only new to this, but this park would have to be one of the quietest around. I took a walk around the entire grounds and didn't run into one other person!

Most of the park's inhabitants appear to be permanent dwellings, there were a few vans, as I mentioned we were the only van in our area and the massive camp ground had one occupant.

Day Four: Time to pack up early and hit the track for home.
I thought the park was an excellent place to stay, very clean, secure, safe for the kids and with excellent facilities.

On the down side, it's not really geared up for kids. The play park is pretty small and without any other families in the area they missed out on that social interraction. Our particular spot backed on to a road that was much busier than I would have thought.

Overall the stay at Drifters was a positive one and I'd have no issue recommending it to others.
